"Education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human
individual, and is acquired not by listening to words but by experiencing them." Welcome to PRAIRIE HILL -- a non-profit corporation formed in 1981 for the purpose of offering education in a historic indoor and a country outdoor environment, with an emphasis on meeting the individual and communal developmental needs of each person. It espouses a Montessori philosophy and method of education that emphasizes discovery and self-growth.
PRAIRIE HILL has initiated a building plan that will demonstrate the use of natural energy resources in an educational environment, preparing children to preserve their future. Energy Education Center - Spring 2007 Update! Harnessing Prairie Power to produce usable energy, PRAIRIE HILL will provide
a hands-on model of energy education reaching children and families throughout

The goal at PRAIRIE HILL is to provide an atmosphere that is home-like and
consistent throughout the day, and that promotes individual growth as well as
caring for others and the Earth. It is situated in a unique farm-like
environment that fosters respect for self, others, animals, and nature.
