PRAIRIE HILL offers nature-centered day camp programs for children ages 6-9 and 10-12 and mini-camps for ages 3-6 on our historic farm, just seven miles south of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Survival and Awareness — with BJ Spring

NatureWorks Summer Camp Session I: June 9-20, 2014 (two-week camp)

Animal Encounters — with UNL Professor Eileen Hebets

NatureWorks Summer Camp Session II: June 23-27, 2014 (one-week camp)

This one-week science camp will be led by UNL professor, Eileen Hebets, who has headed up the Eight-legged Encounters event at Morrill Hall for the past two years. Children will observe and interact with a variety of animals during this camp, and will experience the scientific methods of questioning, observing, hypothesis, drawing conclusions, etc.

The First Campers – Native Culture

NatureWorks Summer Camp Session III: July 7-18, 2014 (two-week camp)

Expand your camper’s indigenous knowledege during this two-week camp through a variety of authentic experiences related to native culture – games, artwork, clothing, dance, language, music, legends and story-telling, food gathering, horse culture, and more!

NatureWorks Summer Camp Session IV: July 21-August 1, 2014

Experience the bounty of artistic materials at PRAIRIE HILL! Use the earth as the source and palette for creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces. “Natural” will be the name of the game for this session, and the possibilities are endless . . .

Camp PRAIRIE HILL — Mini-camp for ages 3-6

This six day mini-camp for children ages 3-6 (Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) is offered during all three two-week NatureWorks camp sessions.  Your child will enjoy a rich and natural PRAIRIE HILL experience with garden work, leisurely walks in the pasture, egg gathering, pony rides, building shelters in the woods, singing, stories, and much more. A picnic lunch from home will taste particularly delicious under the shade trees!

Mini-Camp PRAIRIE HILL – Registration Form

Camp PRAIRIE HILL Daily Schedule *

9:00 a.m. Drop-off: greeting and getting ready for the day
9:15 a.m. Circle Time: flag raising, songs, movement games
9:30 a.m. Garden Time/Nature Walk
10:15 a.m. Pony Rides
11:15 a.m. Lunch Preparation/Story Time
11:30 a.m. Picnic Lunch
12:15 p.m. Prepare for Pickup (12:30 p.m.)

*Schedule may vary depending on more time devoted to . . . watching a caterpillar crawl across a leaf . . . feeling the morning breeze in the meadow . . . picking juicy cherries in the orchard . . . enjoying a longer ride on Dolly, the Shetland . . . or, well . . . you get the idea.
All camps at PRAIRIE HILL include daily pony riding, gardening, singing, walks in the pasture, animal care, story-telling, snacks, picnics, and more. Call 402-438-6668 for more information.
